How Can You Control Your Virtual Assistant for Driving Contextual & Seamless Responses?
This long weekend, I thought of a getaway to Hạ Long Bay and used a chatbot to check out flight deals. The response I received left me marveling at how chatbots have evolved over the years, sounding more human-like. Of course, a big thanks to the emergence of Gen AI!
But that also made me think about whether we should only be thrilled about the blurring line between robotic and human communication, or should we carefully consider the implications.
I mean, what if a user has to use the bot for practical reasons? In that case, one would prefer that the chatbot is not so conversational and feels more like AI.
For example, If I am using a chatbot for IT-related queries, I would not want to perceive AI as a friend but as an assistant. I’d rather want the bot to be secure, factual, and provide to-the-point responses.
My point is - while it is incredible to advance your bot and make it capable of mimicking human interactions, it’s also important to interrogate just how human-like you want your chatbot to be.
Techniques like prompting and temperature control play their part in this case.
By giving your chatbot a clear prompt and adjusting the temperature in conjunction with that, you can make it deliver responses that match your customer's expectations.
The scale for setting the temperature is between 0 – 1. Lower values mean conservative text, while higher ones bring out the bot's creative, human-like side. You can choose the ideal temperature setting depending on the specific task and the desired output.
I have had this great opportunity to share deeper insights on this topic in episode 2 of the video series, ‘Art of Prompting and Temperature Control,’ along with my colleague, Ramkrishna Agrawal.
Tune in now to master the art of prompting and if you are eager about how you can control your bot for more relevant and intent-driven responses.
